What is Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)?

Quantum computers are one of the most globally focused fields alongside AI. Commercialization timelines continue to be moved up, with some researchers claiming they are imminent.

Quantum computing can dramatically shorten computation for specific tasks, threatening to break RSA and ECC — the most widely used public-key cryptography today — in a very short time.

Algorithms developed to counter this quantum threat are called Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). NIST recommends that major organizations adopt PQC by 2028.
